Our plan is to make a catapult. Our challenge is that we can not use tape. In our preliminary sketch we used straws to make a base, an index card as a basket and a rubber bands as the media to launch the bean. The original design was to attach it to a chair, but that is going to have to be tweaked.
A real life example of using this type of engineering is in survival type of situation where materials are limited. This teaches improvisation and quick thinking. It makes you look at simple materials and find new uses for them.
